History and Vision
Since its inception in 2001, Planet Data’s mission has been to become a leading global discovery management firm. The entrepreneurial vision of its founders was to develop a services company that placed a premium on industry expertise, technology and client satisfaction. The primary focus of the company was to develop a management, technology and operating team that shared core values of excellent performance on a continuing basis.
During Planet Data's first few years, the firm offered file conversion, high speed printing, consulting, imaging, coding and repository services. In 2003 electronic file processing services were added. During the next several years founding partners Howard J. Reissner (CEO) and Zoltan Horvath (President) recognized that tremendous change in the discovery management philosophy was fast approaching. Corporations and law firms needed fast, powerful, flexible and defensible processing software to handle the ever increasing quantities of ESI required for litigations, bankruptcies and investigations. In addition, the culling, processing, searching and review of these large data sets required a very high level of client support throughout the entire process.
Subsequent to the adoption of the Amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure in December, 2006 (addressing discovery of ESI), sophisticated clients quickly began looking for e-discovery services that could provide flexible, accurate, time-saving and cost-cutting solutions.
In 2008, Planet Data answered the call, and acquired Cerulean LLC, a proprietary, fully Unicode compliant data processing engine, along with their entire world-class development team.
In addition to the Cerulean founders and development staff, Planet Data created several other senior management positions to propel the company into the next decade. Those key appointments in Project Management, Marketing and Communications, and Technology solidify Planet Data’s commitment to being the “Best in Class”.
Entering 2009, Planet Data had fully implemented the integration of the Cerulean Engine, which allows complete flexibility and customization while processing massive amounts of data per day.
Today, Planet Data has a strong reputation for flexible, high-quality, cost-effective systems, with an emphasis on client service. We offer state-of-the-art data processing, and reliable, full supported hosting centers. The company also provides high-level consulting, technical support and project management. We identify and create new technologies and will continually provide new and improved services to our clients. We are particularly excited about the impending release of EXEGO - our leading-edge Early Case Assessment tool, which will enable our clients to estimate their potential costs very early in the discovery process, and ultimately control the costs of discovery.
